As my first teacher, she fueled my passion for Black literature and instilled in me a reverence for education and learning.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat\u0026#39;s the goal of your research? What do you hope to change with it?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMy research examines how Black women writers across the African Diaspora use liminality as a trope to explore how Black women negotiate space and live at the intersection of race and gender. It is my hope that my research will effect change related to antiracism, equity, and belonging as I aim to centralize marginalized voices.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhy did you decide to teach at Georgia Tech, and what\u0026#39;s the best part about working here?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAt Georgia Tech, I have had the wonderful opportunity to translate my research interests in liminality to students\u0026rsquo; lived experiences.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe best part of working here is the students; they are AWESOME!\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat moment in LMC\/at Georgia Tech stands out as the most memorable? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPresenting at the Celebrating Teaching Day event stands out to me as the most memorable. I enjoyed sharing my pedagogy and student work as well as learning more about the innovative work of other faculty.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat\u0026#39;s your favorite course to teach and why?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECurrently, I am teaching a composition course, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/serve-learn-sustain.gatech.edu\/narratives-black-girlhood\u0022\u003ENarratives of Black Girlhood\u003C\/a\u003E. I enjoy the meaningful class discussions about representation, visibility, and bias, and I have been impressed by how the students\u0026rsquo; projects reflect their burgeoning commitment to diversity and inclusion.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhen you\u0026#39;re not working, what do you like to do? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI enjoy spending time with family and friends, catching up on my favorite TV shows, shopping, and reading (shoutout to the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.charisbooksandmore.com\/event\/black-feminist-book-club-reads-jazz\u0022\u003EBlack Feminist Book Club\u003C\/a\u003E).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EIf you weren\u0026#39;t doing this, what would you be doing?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOf the careers I contemplated in my formative years, I wanted to be a meteorologist.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EDo you have any advice for LMC students at Georgia Tech?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEnjoy the journey, give yourself grace, and always remember that there are valuable life lessons born of missteps.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EIf prospective students or alumni are interested in what you do, can they contact you?
