Flournoy\u0026nbsp;served as the undersecretary of defense for policy from 2009 to 2012. Prior to confirmation, Flournoy co-led President Obama\u0026rsquo;s transition team at the Department of Defense.\u202fIn the mid-1990s, she served as principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy and threat reduction and deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy.\u202f\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cstrong\u003ESam Nunn\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;is co-chairman\u202fof the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to reduce the risk of use and prevent the spread of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. He served as a United States Senator from Georgia for 24 years (1972-1996) and is retired from the law firm of King \u0026amp; Spalding.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nSenator Nunn attended Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Emory Law School.\u202f After active-duty service in the U.S. Coast Guard, he served six years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.\u202fHe first entered politics as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in 1968. During his tenure in the U.S. Senate, Senator Nunn served as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.\u202f He also served on the Intelligence and Small Business Committees.\u202f His legislative achievements include the landmark Department of Defense Reorganization Act, drafted with the late Senator Barry Goldwater, and the \u0026ldquo;Nunn-Lugar\u0026rdquo; Cooperative Threat Reduction Program, which provided\u202fassistance to Russia and the former Soviet republics for securing and destroying their excess nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nIn addition to his work with NTI, Senator Nunn has continued his service in the public policy arena as a Distinguished Professor of the Practice in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech and as chairman emeritus of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.\u202f\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/securelb.imodules.com\/s\/1481\/alumni\/19\/interior.aspx?sid=1481\u0026amp;gid=21\u0026amp;pgid=21940\u0026amp;cid=49420\u0022\u003ERegister\u003C\/a\u003E one time to be sent a reminder ahead of each event.
