Parvin\u0026rsquo;s research explores the ethical and political dimensions of design and technology, especially as related to values of democratic participation and social justice. Integrating methods of humanistic scholarship and design-based inquiry, her research answers pressing questions about the influence of digital technologies on the future of social and collective interactions. Her papers have appeared in premier publication venues in design studies, science and technology studies, and human-computer interaction.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EParvin has a lead editorial role in\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/catalystjournal.org\/index.php\/catalyst\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003E\u0026nbsp;Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience\u003C\/a\u003E, an innovative open-access journal in the expanding interdisciplinary field of STS that recently received\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.4sonline.org\/prizes\/infrastructure#:~:text=2020%20STS%20Infrastructure%20Award%20goes%20to%20Catalyst:%20Feminism,%20Theory,%20Technoscience\u0026amp;text=Catalyst%20is%20an%20interdisciplinary%20peer,and%20technology%20studies%20(STS).\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003E\u0026nbsp;2020 Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) Infrastructure Award.\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;She also serves as the associate director of\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/dilac.iac.gatech.edu\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EDigital Integrative Liberal Arts Center\u003C\/a\u003E, an interdisciplinary research center funded by the Mellon Foundation; and the associate director of the newly established\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ethicxcenter.gatech.edu\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EEthics, Technology, and Human Interaction Center\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;(ETHICx). Parvin\u0026rsquo;s teaching has received multiple recognitions inclusive of the campus-wide 2017 GATECH CETL\/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Her designs have been deployed at non-profit organizations such as the Mayo Clinic and exhibited in venues such as the Smithsonian Museum, receiving multiple awards and recognitions. Dr. Parvin received her PhD in Design from Carnegie Mellon University.
