{"655424":{"#nid":"655424","#data":{"type":"news","title":"AGREC Funds Eight \u201cGlobal at Home\u201d Community Research Projects","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/atlantaglobalstudies.gatech.edu\/AGREC\u0022\u003EAtlanta Global Research \u0026amp; Education Collaborative (AGREC),\u003C\/a\u003E launched in 2020 and housed within the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/atlantaglobalstudies.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EAtlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC)\u003C\/a\u003E, awarded grants to eight new projects exploring a wide range of global issues while being grounded locally. Since its launch, AGREC has supported\u0026nbsp;15\u0026nbsp;collaborative, interdisciplinary, and multi-institution projects with a focus on research, education, and community engagement on global issues. Project teams consist of faculty from\u0026nbsp;10\u0026nbsp;different area higher education institutions who collaborate with\u0026nbsp;20\u0026nbsp;different community partners.\u0026nbsp; AGREC has opened a new Call for Proposals to fund projects starting in August 2022. The collaborative welcomes other universities to join the initiative.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAGREC connects the region\u0026rsquo;s international assets by supporting \u0026ldquo;global at home\u0026rdquo; projects that serve students, faculty, and community partners and define the metropolitan area as a hub for global education and research.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Since COVID-19 limited our ability to support global research and collaboration abroad in 2020, Atlanta Global Studies Center quickly convened its partners to imagine a new mechanism to support global research, and AGREC was born,\u0026rdquo; said Anthony F. Lemieux, founding co-director of the Atlanta Global Studies Center and professor of communication at Georgia State University. \u0026ldquo;We are immensely proud of the interdisciplinary work that is being carried out by dedicated researchers in partnership with students and community organizations.
