{"654963":{"#nid":"654963","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Three Modern Languages Faculty Named Sustainability\/SDG Education Teaching Fellows","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThree faculty members from the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E were selected by the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/serve-learn-sustain.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EGeorgia Tech Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS)\u003C\/a\u003E and the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ctl.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ECenter for Teaching and Learning (CTL)\u003C\/a\u003E as Sustainability\/SDG Education Teaching Fellows for the Spring 2022 term.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/lionel-gall\u0022\u003ELionel Gall\u003C\/a\u003E, senior lecturer of French; \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/britta-kallin\u0022\u003EBritta Kallin\u003C\/a\u003E, associate professor of German; and \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/kyoko-masuda\u0022\u003EKyoko Masuda\u003C\/a\u003E, associate professor of Japanese, will serve as fellows alongside faculty, staff, and graduate students from across Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State University.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;These recognitions highlight the expertise our faculty bring to the discussion of sustainability topics across institutions of higher learning,\u0026rdquo; said \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/david-shook\u0022\u003EDavid Shook,\u003C\/a\u003E interim chair and associate professor of Spanish in the School of Modern Languages. \u0026ldquo;The fact that these topics can be folded into our explorations of foreign-language development and the understandings of cultures outside of our own is a natural combination that our faculty have developed and continue to develop for the future. Lionel, Britta, and Kyoko, and many others in the School, are building to enhance their students\u0026rsquo; goals and desires for their futures within our courses and programs by providing access to minors and majors in language and culture studies for those who want to delve even further into global sustainability issues and possibilities.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGall, Kallin, and Masuda are joined by their cohort members:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAnne Fuller, senior lecturer of strategy and innovation area in the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EJairo Garcia, adjunct faculty in the School of City and Regional Planning at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ESteven Kangisser, building construction Ph.D. student in the College of Design at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ERaghu Pucha, principal lecturer in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECarsten Sievers, associate professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ENorah Sinclair, instructional designer and content developer at the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation in the College of Design at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETeresa Snow, senior academic professional in the College of Sciences at Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETiffini Eugene Jones, assistant professor in the College of Sciences at Kennesaw State University\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ERichard Halstead-Nussloch, professor in the Information Technology Department at Kennesaw State University\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ELara Smith-Sitton, associate professor in the English Department at Kennesaw State University\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The Sustainability\/SDG Education Teaching Fellows Program builds upon SLS Fellows and CTL Teaching Fellows Programs,\u0026rdquo; the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/serve-learn-sustain.gatech.edu\/spring-2022-fellows-program-sustainabilitysdg-teaching-fellows\u0022\u003Ecall for application\u003C\/a\u003E states. \u0026ldquo;The SLS Fellows Program fosters interdisciplinary learning communities by bringing together diverse faculty, staff, and graduate students to examine and apply key themes related to sustainable communities. CTL Teaching Fellows Programs bring together a diverse group of interdisciplinary faculty to engage in conversations about teaching.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDuring the spring semester, fellows will focus on either advancing professional development in sustainability education \u0026mdash; such as designing workshops, training materials, or conference presentations \u0026mdash; or advancing their own sustainability teaching through course re-design, module development, or projects that prepare students to be sustainability change-makers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBy incorporating the U.N.
