1. Why did you choose Georgia Tech? 

I chose Georgia Tech because I am from the Atlanta area and wanted to be near home while still challenging myself academically. I transferred my sophomore year because Tech offered the History, Society, and Technology major. 

2. Who or what inspired you to study history, technology, and society? 

I was inspired to study HTS because history has been an interest of mine since elementary school. I wanted to expand my knowledge of the subject. 

3. What’s the coolest research/project/initiative/event you’ve worked on here? 

The coolest project I’ve worked on was through my Concussion Connect VIP where I was able to help use technology to evaluate the effects of concussions.  

4. What was the biggest challenge you’ve faced at Georgia Tech, and how did you overcome it? 

Prior to the pandemic, I would have said my biggest challenge was transferring in as a sophomore. At first, I did not feel as connected to the school as I would have liked. Although that has recently changed, an additional challenge has been the pandemic. We are all doing the best that we can in these uncertain times, and I am trying to become more active this year and making sure that I am managing self–care. 

5. What is your proudest achievement from your time at Georgia Tech so far? 

My proudest moments have been making the Dean’s List and being able to benefit from online learning. 

6. What is the biggest change you see in yourself now from when you arrived? 

The biggest change I see in myself from my time at Georgia Tech is my awareness of the steps required to initiate change in society. Prior to my time at Tech, I perceived change as an exclusive process, but I have seen my peers and instructors in active pursuit of widespread progress. 

7. What is your #1 piece of advice for incoming students in the School of History and Sociology?

I would advise incoming students to try and immerse themselves in all that the university has to offer. I would also say to make sure to challenge yourself academically as well as socially. It can be difficult to open yourself up to uncomfortable situations, but in the end, it can be satisfying. 

8. What’s your biggest, craziest goal after you graduate (how do you want to change the world)?

My biggest goal after I graduate would be to pursue my Ph.D. and advise leaders in implementing equitable strategies. Additionally, I am interested in research in sports history.
