We hosted an outdoor museum exhibit pop-up in April, the HCON historical costume contest and spring course preview party\u0026nbsp;in October, and our bi-annual \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/news\/item\/653318\/hsoc-undergraduate-research-symposium-spotlights-environmental-history\u0022\u003EUndergraduate Research Symposium\u003C\/a\u003E in December. (Check out our \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/2021-year-in-photos\u0022\u003E2021 Year in Photos\u003C\/a\u003E to see more.)\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EProfessor Hanchao Lu took the reigns \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/news\/item\/648544\/ivan-allen-college-appoints-interim-chairs\u0022\u003Eas Interim Chair\u003C\/a\u003E for the School of History and Sociology in the summer, and we held a virtual Fall Faculty Speaker Series with presentations from Professor Kristie Macrakis, Assistant Professor Germ\u0026aacute;n Vergara, Professor Douglas Flamming, and Associate Professor Carla Gerona in the fall. Then, our holiday reception brought together faculty, staff, and Ph.D. students to celebrate the end of a hard year\u0026#39;s work.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd there was certainly a lot to celebrate this year.\u0026nbsp;Ph.D. student\u0026nbsp;Alejandra Ruiz Le\u0026oacute;n, Associate Professor\u0026nbsp;Sherie Randolph, and Associate Professor\u0026nbsp;Jennifer Singh\u0026nbsp;were\u0026nbsp;recognized as Georgia Tech\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/news\/item\/650965\/ruiz-randolph-singh-honored-georgia-tech-faces-inclusive-excellence\u0022\u003E2021 Faces of Inclusive Excellence\u003C\/a\u003E.
