{"653607":{"#nid":"653607","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Whitlark to Co-organize International Security Workshop","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) recently announced grant funding for a workshop being co-organized by Rachel Whitlark, associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. The \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/apsia.org\/apsia-invests-junior-faculty\/\u0022\u003Egrant\u003C\/a\u003E, designed to invest in junior faculty and foster inter-university collaboration, will allow Whitlark to launch a workshop on international security alongside professors from other universities.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe workshop, tentatively planned for the spring of 2022, will provide junior scholars in emerging technology and international security the chance to present their research. Whitlark was approached by Joseph Torigian of American University\u0026rsquo;s School of International Service, who had gotten the idea for such an event from one of his graduate students. Torigian also recruited Charles Glaser of George Washington University\u0026rsquo;s Elliott School of International Affairs, who, coincidentally, was Whitlark\u0026rsquo;s Ph.D. advisor.
