Honorable mention to\u0026nbsp;European Intellectual History\u0026nbsp;by \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/douglas-flamming\u0022\u003EDr. Douglas Flamming\u003C\/a\u003E that I took online Summer 2020!\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EFavorite professor:\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003EI\u0026rsquo;ve loved all my professors in\u0026nbsp;HTS, but I have a special place in my heart for \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/amy-dunger\u0022\u003EDr. Amy\u0026nbsp;D\u0026rsquo;Unger.\u003C\/a\u003E She was the first person in HTS I met when I was a prospective student\u0026nbsp;in high school, and she has helped me with countless scheduling conflicts, aspirations, applications etcetera. Why did you choose Georgia Tech?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EComing\u0026nbsp;into\u0026nbsp;college, I knew I wanted to study liberal arts.\u0026nbsp;As I learned more about Georgia Tech, I realized that coming here would allow me to pursue my passions while also developing important STEM skills that\u0026nbsp;are crucial given the shift towards technology occurring across all disciplines.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E2. Who or what inspired you to study history, technology, and society?\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI\u0026rsquo;ve always had a massive appetite for history, and when I first came to Georgia\u0026nbsp;Tech, I planned to study history through a Ph.D. to become a professor. The idea of doing historical and archival research was captivating to me. As I\u0026rsquo;ve gone through my undergraduate experience here at Tech, I\u0026rsquo;ve realized my passion for\u0026nbsp;public policy.\u0026nbsp;I still love history, but I now plan to\u0026nbsp;utilize my education in HTS and\u0026nbsp;PubP\u0026nbsp;to pursue further education in law.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E3. What\u0026#39;s the coolest research, project, or event you\u0026#39;ve worked on here?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMy coolest Georgia Tech experience occurred during my State Capitol internship. I worked for the\u0026nbsp;Majority\u0026nbsp;Whip of the House. On\u0026nbsp;Crossover day, which is the deadline for a bill to\u0026nbsp;pass out of its house of origin, the Majority Whip\u0026rsquo;s policy analyst, who was basically his\u0026nbsp;right-hand\u0026nbsp;man, had to have an emergency root canal. I got to\u0026nbsp;help\u0026nbsp;write a Whip report that day\u0026nbsp;and run around on the floor\u0026nbsp;on the second most busy day of the session.\u0026nbsp;It was such an awesome experience!\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E4. What was the biggest challenge you\u0026rsquo;ve faced at Georgia Tech, and how did you overcome it?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe biggest challenge I have faced at Georgia Tech was learning to prioritize. When I first came to college, I was so excited to try every single club and experience at Tech. It was great as a first-year to meet so many people and try new things, but it was not sustainable for me to be involved in so many activities. Over the course of my time here, I have grown to focus on the activities I really love and feel like will make a difference.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E5. What is your proudest achievement from your time at Georgia Tech so far?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWell, aside from my\u0026nbsp;State Capitol internship, which was an amazing experience, I recently created my first website for my research lab! I never thought web design would be something I learned\u0026nbsp;through my liberal arts degree, but I\u0026rsquo;m so glad I got to develop that skill, and I had a lot of fun doing it!\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E6. What\u0026#39;s your #1 piece of advice for incoming students in the School of History and Sociology?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMake friends in HTS with your peers and \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\u0022\u003Ewith professors!\u003C\/a\u003E The easiest way to begin a personal relationship with your professors is by attending office hours.\u0026nbsp;Having friends in your degree is fun, and it has been so helpful to me to learn about jobs and experiences from my\u0026nbsp;peers.
