With a relatively new, complex, and rapidly growing field like IoT, new skills are needed to support it and its implementation as new challenges and needs arise. IoT requires highly skilled individuals to fill gaps in fields like engineering, data science and management, cybersecurity and risk specialists, technical management of the devices themselves, manufacturing, and more. The challenge comes when the skills and expertise of the current workforce both within and outside of a company may fall behind what is actually needed.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;The data and previous studies show that the skills gap is no small issue.\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.iotworldtoday.com\/2020\/11\/19\/skill-gaps-persist-in-iot-disciplines\/\u0022 rel=\u0022nofollow noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EA 2020 survey by IoT World Today\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;found that 45% of companies surveyed said lack of skills and expertise were a problem area. This supplements a\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.pwc.com\/gx\/en\/ceo-survey\/2020\/trends\/pwc-talent-trends-2020.pdf\u0022 rel=\u0022nofollow noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EPwC survey\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;that reports that 74% of CEOs are concerned about the availability of key skills.
