Sundaresan is a professor and is a member of the telecommunications technical interest group. He officially started his appointment on October 1 and will be on campus full-time starting in January 2022. His office is in the Centergy Building, Room 5172.   

A proud Georgia Tech alumnus, Sundaresan received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in ECE in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He has spent the last 15 years in the wireless and telecom industry at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton, New Jersey.  

Sundaresan’s research interests are broadly in wireless networking and mobile computing and span both algorithm design and system building. He holds over 50 patents and has received business contribution awards for bringing research technology to commercialization at NEC. He also led the spin-out effort of an innovative, lab-grown research technology, known as TrackIO, for infrastructure-free tracking of first responders in GPS-denied environments. 

Sundaresan received the ACM SIGMOBILE’s Rockstar Award in 2016 for early career contributions to mobile computing and wireless networking. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.
