Thomas Jefferson is well-known for inventive and intellectual contributions to many disciplines including; law, politics, landscape architecture, and architecture. A poetic frame of mind and fresh conceptual thinking are present in almost all of Jefferson's endeavors. Not surprisingly, as both an interior designer, architect and landscape architect, one finds Jefferson's work to be not only beautiful but also inventively intelligent. In this discussion we will explore Jefferson's unique and conceptual approach to interior appointments and decor at Monticello, one of the nation's most cultural and aesthetic treasures.

Mr. W. Jude LeBlanc is an architect, interior designer, and educator. He received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1980 from the University of Houston, and in 1982, he received a Master of Architecture from Harvard University. His design work includes three scales: urban design, planning and infrastructure; architectural design; and interiors, installations, and furniture design. His award winning projects and research have been published in Lotus International, Metropolis Magazine, Harvard Design Magazine, Progressive Architecture, Japan Architecture, Modulus, and the Journal of the University of Virginia School of Architecture. Mr. LeBlanc is currently Associate Professor of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology and has taught at both the University of Virginia and Harvard University.
