Kosal Publishes Article on CRISPR and Nuclear Nonproliferation

Margaret E. Kosal, associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, recently published an article in The Nonproliferation Review titled “CRISPR and new genetic-engineering techniques: emerging challenges to strategic stability and nonproliferation.”

The article discusses the biosecurity issues presented by such gene-editing technologies as clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats, or CRISPR. It places these security issues in line with of those related to nuclear weapons and theorizes how they can both impact the policy landscape in terms of strategic stability.
