  <title><![CDATA[OSS Speaker Series-- "Freedom from Technology: Law as Jailer or Liberator?" with John C. O'Quinn, P.C.]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>John O&rsquo;Quinn is a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland &amp; Ellis LLP, a national law firm. His practice focuses on litigation, including intellectual property disputes, commercial matters, regulatory issues, and government investigations. His work has been recognized in publications such as the National Law Journal, the American Lawyer, the Legal 500, the Financial Times, and Law360.</p>

<p>From 2006 to 2009, Mr. O&rsquo;Quinn served as Deputy Associate Attorney General and Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, where he oversaw the defense of many high-profile cases against the government, particularly relating to national security issues. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he graduated first in his class.</p>

<p>He has an M.S. in chemical engineering from MIT, where he was an NSF Fellow, and a M.Sc. in environmental change and management from Oxford University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. Mr. O&rsquo;Quinn is a 1996 graduate from North Carolina State University, with a B.S. in chemical engineering and B.A. in multidisciplinary studies, where he was valedictorian and student body president.</p>
