Admiral James “Sandy” Winnefeld, a Professor of the Practice at the Sam Nunn School, was a guest speaker in an episode of the “Intelligence Matters” podcast on September 1st, 2021. The episode, entitled “Remembering 9/11 Part 4: Sandy Winnefeld,” features host Michael Morell and the former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Winnefeld discussing when Winnefeld learned of the 9/11 attacks. Winnefeld describes the decision to position the USS Enterprise within striking distance of Afghanistan and his message to his crew.
