On September 1, 2021, France 24 published a news article discussing China’s education system. The article detailed how Chinese schools are implementing “Xi Jinping thought” as the Communist Party seeks to expand its influence on the younger generation. Dr. Wang described how textbooks are one example of how the Communist Party is attempting to “bet on a cult of personality in a Mao-like strong leader.” Professor Wang also suggested that parents may not like this extension of influence given events that have occurred in Chinese society within the past four decades.
