Inman, Jr. Faculty Excellence Awards.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Inman Professorship,\u0026nbsp;established\u202fin\u202f2013,\u0026nbsp;is awarded to outstanding scholars in the School of Economics to support their ongoing and future research, academic leadership, and professional development. Faculty hold the Professorship for a period of three years and are selected by the School Chair in consultation with a faculty evaluation committee and approval by the Dean of the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EIvan Allen College of Liberal Arts.\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENew this year are the\u0026nbsp;Inman Faculty Excellence Awards,\u0026nbsp;which are\u0026nbsp;awarded alongside the Professorship for the first time to celebrate the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/econ.gatech.edu\/news\/item\/643481\/georgia-tech-school-economics-celebrates-success-years-granting-degrees\u0022\u003E50th anniversary of the\u0026nbsp;School.\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;Like the Professorship, the funds are given for three-year terms to support research, academic leadership, and professional development for the recipients.\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2\u003ETibor\u202fBesedes\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h2\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026quot;It is a great honor to be named the holder of the Inman Professorship,\u0026quot; said\u202fBesedes. \u0026quot;I view it as a recognition of my achievements so far, and a motivation to continue working hard on my scholarship, both in research and teaching. I will work hard to live up to the expectations of the professorship.\u0026quot;\u202f\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBesedes\u202fplans to\u202fuse the funds for professional development\u202f\u0026mdash;\u202fattending conferences, conducting economic experiments, and bolstering his role as the\u202f\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.freit.org\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EDirector of the Forum for Research in Empirical International Trade (FREIT)\u003C\/a\u003E\u202f\u0026mdash; as well as\u202fto support his graduate students with data purchases, conference travel, and funding to conduct experiments. Encouraging and\u202finspiring\u202fhis\u202fstudents is something\u202fBesedes\u202fhas been passionate about since joining the\u202ffaculty\u202fin 2007.\u202f\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026quot;Dr.\u202fBesedes\u202fis an amazing mentor,\u0026nbsp;who guided me through all aspects of my Ph.D. study,\u0026rdquo; said\u0026nbsp;Tongyang\u0026nbsp;Yang, a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Economics. \u0026quot;He is always kind and patient and is always there to support me through challenging times. Now I\u0026#39;m about to graduate, and I would say that I\u0026#39;m so lucky to have Dr.\u202fBesedes\u202fas my co-advisor.
