649120 news 1627563347 1631720918 <![CDATA[Meet the New HSOC Administrative Team]]> Effective August 1, Professor Hanchao Lu will take the reins as the new interim chair of the School of History and Sociology. He will serve for two years and lead an all-new administrative team for the School, with:

New Associate Chair: Julius C. "Bud" Shaw Professor of Sports History and Associate Professor Johnny Smith
New Director of Undergraduate Studies: Associate Professor Jennifer Singh
New Director of Graduate Studies: Associate Professor Daniel Amsterdam

Lu will succeed Professor Eric Schatzberg, who was the School chair from 2017 to 2021. Singh will take over for Amsterdam, and Amsterdam will replace Professor Kristie Macrakis.

“I thank Jen, Dan, and Johnny for taking their roles at this critical juncture of leadership transition,” says Lu. “I am confident that this is a strong and effective team, and together with your support, we will move our program to a new high.”
