The trio replaced outgoing program professors Dana Randall, Catherine Ross, and Mary Frank Fox as College representatives, respectively.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESupported by \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/diversity.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EInstitute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion\u003C\/a\u003E, the ADVANCE Program builds and sustains an inter-college network of professors who are world-class researchers and role models to support the community and advancement of women and minorities in academia by:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAdvocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAdvising campus leadership on policy and structure.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EIncreasing awareness and reducing the impact of implicit bias.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EMaking data-driven recommendations for faculty retention, advancement, and satisfaction.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Drs. Ant\u0026oacute;n, Leigh, and McDonald bring impressive records as accomplished scholars and impactful leaders into the ADVANCE Program,\u0026rdquo; Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vice President Archie Ervin said. \u0026ldquo;Together, with the ADVANCE professors from the College of Business, the College of Engineering, and the College of Sciences, I look forward to the group\u0026rsquo;s continued visibility and active leadership addressing gender and racial-equity issues for the Institute and across higher education.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe National Science Foundation began awarding grants to universities to establish ADVANCE programs in 2001, designed to increase the participation and advancement of women in academic science and engineering careers. When the\u0026nbsp;Foundation\u0026rsquo;s grant expired in 2007, Georgia Tech upheld and expanded its ADVANCE Program to include the support and retention of women and minority faculty.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/people\/annie-anton\u0022\u003EAnt\u0026oacute;n\u003C\/a\u003E is a former chair of the School of Interactive Computing where she currently serves as a professor. In 2016, she was appointed by President Barack Obama to the 12-person bipartisan Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/planning.gatech.edu\/people\/nancey-green-leigh\u0022\u003ELeigh\u003C\/a\u003E is a professor in the School of City and Regional Planning and also associate dean for Research with the College of Design, where she oversees its\u0026nbsp;seven major research units. She is also engaged in building research connections within Georgia Tech between the College of Design, the\u0026nbsp;other five\u0026nbsp;Colleges, and its \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.research.gatech.edu\/interdisciplinary-research-institutes\u0022\u003EInterdisciplinary Research Institutes\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/mary-g-mcdonald\u0022\u003EMcDonald\u003C\/a\u003E serves as the Homer C.
