Congratulations to Riley Juenemann, an undergraduate student in Dr. Scott McKinley’s lab at Tulane University, on winning 1st Place at Northwestern University’s 2020 Prize for Undergraduate Research in Quantitative Biology – NSF-Simons Center for Quantitative Biology (northwestern.edu). The NSF-Simons Center for Quantitative Biology’s Prize for Undergraduate Research in Quantitative Biology recognizes outstanding undergraduate research in quantitative biology. This year five finalists competed for the Prize for Undergraduate Research in Quantitative Biology at the 3rd Annual Conference on Quantitative Biology, November 19-21, 2020 hosted virtually. They each presented their work as a 10-minute video hosted on YouTube for conference attendees and judges and participated in an hour Discord chat on Friday, November 20, 2020. Awards were based on the content and presentation of their research projects. In addition to the above honor, Riley won an NSF-GRFP fellowship for graduate school and will be heading to Stanford in the fall. Moreover, using data that was provided by Christine Payne’s lab (our SCMB partner) Riley built a web-app that automatically categorizes particle tracking data.
