  <title><![CDATA[Georgia Bio Names 2021 Golden Helix Award Winners]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Children&#39;s Healthcare of Atlanta were honored with a Georgia Bio Deal of the Year Award for receiving&nbsp;$54 million from the National Institutes of Health&nbsp;to validate and verify the best performing Covid-19 diagnostic tests in the <a href="https://www.nih.gov/research-training/medical-research-initiatives/radx">NIH&#39;s Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) </a>program. The presentation was made during the <a href="https://www.georgiabioawards.org/award-winners">Double Helix Awards </a>presented by <a href="https://gabio.org">Georgia Bio</a>, a non-profit, membership-based organization that promotes the interests and growth of the life sciences industry.</p>

<p>Other Georgia Tech winners include <a href="https://petitinstitute.gatech.edu/james-rains-0">James Rains</a>, Professor of the Practice in the Wallace H. &nbsp;Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering for his work with Jackson Medical; and <a href="https://me.gatech.edu/faculty/saldana">Christopher Saldana,</a>&nbsp;Ring Family Professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering,&nbsp;whose Saldana Medical Group,&nbsp;along with the <a href="https://gcmiatl.com">Global Center for Medical Innovation</a>,&nbsp;won an Innovation Award for PPE face shields.&nbsp;</p>
