{"64591":{"#nid":"64591","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Michael Moseley Wins Best Student Oral Conference Presentation Award","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EECE Ph.D. student Michael Moseley has been named the winner of the Best Student Oral Presentation Award for the 2009 North American Molecular Beam Epitaxy Conference. He will receive this award at the 2010 North American MBE Conference, to be held in Breckenridge, Colo. September 26-29. His advisor is Alan Doolittle, an associate professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EMr. Moseley\u0027s presentation was entitled \u0022Deeply degenerate p-GaN grown by metal-modulated epitaxy.\u0022 His work involves a method of growing GaN with hole concentrations as high as 7.9e19 cm-3 or equivalently approximately 40 times higher than the previously perceived limit.  This advance makes practical tunnel junctions to be used in advanced solar cells and could possibly improve the performance of light emitters such as LEDs and lasers.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ETwo more of Dr. Doolittle\u0027s ECE Ph.D. students, Jordan Greenlee and Laws Calley, have also been chosen for the 2010 Best Student Abstract Award, which will be presented at the same conference at the end of this month. \u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"Michael Moseley has been named the winner of the Best Student Oral Presentation Award for the 2009 North American Molecular Beam Epitaxy Conference.
