Wallace McDowell Award, which is given by the IEEE Computer Society.   \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe McDowell Award is given to individuals for outstanding recent \ntheoretical, design, educational, practical, or other similar innovative\n contribution that falls within the scope of IEEE Computer Society \ninterest. Dr. Akyildiz is being honored by the Society \u0022for pioneering \ncontributions to wireless sensor network architectures and communication\n protocols\u0022 and will receive this accolade at an awards dinner to be \nheld on May 25 in Albuquerque, N.M. during the IEEE Computer Society \nBoard of Governors Meeting. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\nDr. Akyildiz is the Byers Professor in Telecommunications in the \nSchool of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Georgia Tech and \nis the director of the Broadband and Wireless Networking Lab. Currently,\n he serves as the chair of the School\u0027s telecommunications technical \ninterest group. Dr. Akyildiz has received numerous technical accolades \nfrom IEEE and the Association for Computing Machinery. He has also been \nhonored by Georgia Tech and ECE for his student advisement, junior \nfaculty mentorship, and scholarly publications.\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EIan F.
