The 2021 Georgia Tech Women’s Leadership Conference Goes Virtual

There’s no stopping women’s leadership. Even in a virtual setting, Georgia Tech is excited to host the 2021 Women’s Leadership Conference. The event will take place on Saturday, March 6, via Gatherly from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Women's Leadership Conference is a gathering of women who have sought to become leaders in the classroom and the boardroom as well as the communities where they reside. The Tech community is invited to join in virtually to enjoy a day of engaging workshops, panels, and speakers to strengthen our understanding of each other and how we interact with those around us.

This year’s conference will also feature an exciting keynote address from critically acclaimed historian, social activist, and educator, Blair Imani (she/her). Imani is the author of two historical books: Modern HERstory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History (2018) and Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream (2020). Her work centers women and girls, global Black communities, and the LGBTQ community. As an influencer and historian, semi-retired organizer, and public speaker, Imani is dedicated to amplifying the voices and work of those fighting to make the world a better place.

This year’s theme centers on fostering intersectional feminism. Women’s empowerment is only as effective as our commitment to inclusion. To us, intersectionality is about building community, cultivating a sense of belonging, and fighting for justice by being active participants in the liberation of all women to combat multiple systemic forms of discrimination and oppression. The conference is based on a quote by Audre Lorde, poet, feminist, and champion of intersectionality: “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different than my own.”

Tickets are free for students, $5 for non-students affiliated with the Institute and non-Georgia Tech students, and $10 for other attendees. Tickets and more information are available at wlc.gatech.edu.
