Election to fellow is an honor reserved for just 2% of the top medical and biological engineering leaders in the nation.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;My mission is to translate biomedical technology for the benefit of humanity. Election to AIMBE means so much to me personally. It is a new door that has been opened, inviting me to actively engage in AIMBE\u0026#39;s efforts to push our vision to make the world better,\u0026rdquo; said \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.bme.gatech.edu\/bme\/faculty\/Lakshmi%20(Prasad)-Dasi\u0022\u003EDasi, professor and associate chair for undergraduate studies\u003C\/a\u003E in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. \u0026ldquo;I am looking forward to serving beyond the boundaries of academic research and education.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECandidates for the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/aimbe.org\/college-of-fellows\/about\/\u0022\u003EAIMBE College of Fellows\u003C\/a\u003E are nominated by existing members and evaluated by a panel of a dozen of their peers. Reviewers consider significant research accomplishments and how candidates have engaged in service and given back to the fields of medical and biological engineering \u0026ldquo;for the benefit of society.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The most accomplished and distinguished engineering and medical school chairs, research directors, professors, innovators, and successful entrepreneurs comprise the College of Fellows,\u0026rdquo; according to an \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/aimbe.org\/press\/dasi-COF-6034.pdf\u0022\u003Einstitute news release about Dasi\u0026rsquo;s election\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFive Georgia Tech faculty members are among the 174 new AIMBE fellows this year: Dasi; \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/chbe.gatech.edu\/news\/2021\/02\/julie-champion-and-corey-wilson-elected-aimbe-fellows\u0022\u003EJulie Champion and Corey Wilson\u003C\/a\u003E, associate professors in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; and \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/me.gatech.edu\/AIMBE-Fellows-Bassiri-Gharb-Dixon\u0022\u003ENazanin Bassiri-Gharb and Brandon Dixon\u003C\/a\u003E, professors in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. They will be formally inducted at AIMBE\u0026rsquo;s Annual Event in March.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDasi said his election as a fellow is really more of a beginning to than a culmination of his impact.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;As the late Professor Bob Nerem put it: \u0026lsquo;Life is filled with a lot of paths and doors to walk through.
