{"64220":{"#nid":"64220","#data":{"type":"news","title":"BuzzMart Launches on Feb. 21","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EIf your daily duties include purchasing items for your unit, life is about to get a little easier. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe new eProcurement system, \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/procurement.gatech.edu\/buzzmart.php\u0022\u003EBuzzMart\u003C\/a\u003E, will go live on Feb. 21, replacing Tech\u2019s PeopleSoft campus requisition. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe shift to BuzzMart, which has been in the planning stage for more than a year, is consistent with goal five in the Institute\u2019s strategic plan,\u201d said Rosalind Meyers, vice president of campus services. \u201cBuzzMart will streamline the procurement and payment process, eliminate paperwork and allow Business Services to focus on value-added, strategic activities rather than transactional activities.\u201d \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe new system will offer the following benefits: \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003E24\/7 Internet-based access\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EOne-stop shopping experience\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EReal-time processing\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EStudent and affiliate access\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EElectronic approval and workflow\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ENo end-of-the-month reconciliation or invoices to organize\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cFrom the user point of view, it\u2019s all about customer service,\u201d Meyers said. \u201cBuzzMart will get an order placed faster, delivered faster, eliminate the excess paperwork that the PCard requires and it can be accessed from any computer.\u201d \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWhen the system is launched, many of the top Tech vendors, including Staples and Hewlett Packard, will be featured in BuzzMart as catalog suppliers. The prices in the catalogs reflect Tech\u2019s negotiated rates, and additional vendor catalogs will be introduced over time. \u003Cbr \/\u003EPurchasers will now be designated one of four roles. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cShoppers\u201d can access BuzzMart and add items to a shopping cart. \u201cRequesters\u201d are responsible for reviewing cart contents and entering accounting information. Requesters are allowed to self-approve orders that are less than $3,000. All others must be approved by the \u201cspend authority approver\u201d and\/or a \u201cfinancial approver.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECurrently, the system is being piloted by Housing and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cBuzzMart gets you the goods and services in a more efficient, effective manner. The ability to generate custom reports far exceeds the previous system,\u201d said Bob Canada, the leader for the Housing Department pilot. \u201cIt will be the one-stop shopping system.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EEmployees must go through training to access BuzzMart. Training will be based on the four roles.
