Her role in\u0026nbsp;implementing\u0026nbsp;Speak Up Africa\u0026rsquo;s\u0026nbsp;Neglected Tropical Disease Advocacy program in Senegal, Guinea and Niger focuses on Neglected Tropical Diseases.\u0026nbsp;The importance of her work in tropical diseases impacts others on a global scale, and Gr\u0026aacute;inne credits her\u0026nbsp;language\u0026nbsp;studies at the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;in\u0026nbsp;helping prepare her for a career in global health.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFollowing her time at Georgia Tech, Hutton moved to Brussels and worked in the European Union Institutions. She\u0026nbsp;attributes\u0026nbsp;Modern Languages for her ability to\u0026nbsp;use\u0026nbsp;French and English as language capabilities and\u0026nbsp;propel her professional growth.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E enabled me directly to move two weeks after graduation to Brussels to work in that field, which was a massive step in working where I am today,\u0026rdquo; said Hutton.\u0026nbsp;\u0026ldquo;At the School of Modern Languages, I was looking to come out of it conversationally comfortable in French and be able to work in a Francophone environment. That\u0026rsquo;s so important when working in international relations, so really honing that ability was essential.\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHutton speaks highly of her experience\u0026nbsp;in \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EModern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E, especially the\u0026nbsp;connections established with her professors. \u0026ldquo;All of the professors at the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages \u003C\/a\u003Emade me comfortable speaking a language that was foreign to me at the time. I was able to not only learn language skills themselves, but specific subjects and regions that I work in which was fantastic to my personal experience,\u0026rdquo; said Hutton.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EThe Importance of\u0026nbsp;Foreign\u0026nbsp;Language Studies\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHutton\u0026nbsp;advises students considering foreign language studies to add additional language skills to their portfolios.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;If you are thinking about studying in the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E, I would tell you to take the jump and do it because having a second language, or even a third, really gives you an edge and improve any kind of work that you\u0026rsquo;re doing.
