Mobilizing Opportunities for Volunteer Experiences, or MOVE, is one such organization; this fall, they\u0026rsquo;ve been working to find safe ways to connect students to volunteer and community service opportunities.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThat\u0026rsquo;s why they recently launched \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/anchor.fm\/gtmovements\u0022\u003EMOVEments\u003C\/a\u003E, a podcast where students, student organizations, and local nonprofits can talk about the work they do in getting people involved in their communities. Episodes range from approximately 35 minutes to an hour in length and are released biweekly. MOVE decided on a podcast for this project because it allows\u0026nbsp;them to go\u0026nbsp;in-depth with\u0026nbsp;their interviews, and allows listeners to hear these stories at any time.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEach episode of MOVEments focuses on a topic covered by one of MOVE\u0026rsquo;s six committees: animal welfare, STEM and education, hunger and homelessness, sustainability, medical assistance, and special projects. Past guests have included representatives from the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/studentlife.gatech.edu\/content\/star-services\u0022\u003EStudents\u0026rsquo; Temporary Assistance and Resources\u003C\/a\u003E (STAR) program, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/gatech.campuslabs.com\/engage\/organization\/books-not-bombs\u0022\u003EBooks Not Bombs\u003C\/a\u003E, and \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.handsonatlanta.org\/\u0022\u003EHands On Atlanta\u003C\/a\u003E. Interviews for MOVEments are conducted virtually.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMOVE believes that community service and civic engagement are especially important right now, because they allow people to stay engaged with their communities when regular interactions can be hard to come by.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Covid-19 has affected a lot of lives this year, and there are so many organizations and projects designed to help them,\u0026rdquo; said Sydney Blakeney, logistics director of MOVE and the host of MOVEments. \u0026ldquo;Whether it\u0026rsquo;s donating clothes or money to a center fighting to end homelessness or writing a thank you note to essential workers, those actions can make a huge difference in someone\u0026rsquo;s life.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStudents can get involved with MOVE at any point in the semester.
