  <title><![CDATA[ISyE’s Dave Goldsman Elected as 2020 INFORMS Fellow]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)&nbsp;<a href="https://www.informs.org/About-INFORMS/News-Room/Press-Releases/INFORMS-Names-2020-Fellows-12-members-to-be-inducted-in-November-for-outstanding-lifetime-accomplishments-and-contributions-in-operations-research-and-analytics">announced</a>&nbsp;that Dave Goldsman has been chosen as an INFORMS Fellow&nbsp;for 2020. Fellows are selected for outstanding lifetime accomplishments and contributions to the field of operations research (OR) and analytics, and it is one of the highest honors in the OR profession. Goldsman is a professor and director of master&rsquo;s programs in Georgia Tech&rsquo;s H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE).&nbsp;</p>

<p>His research interests include simulation output analysis; statistical ranking and selection&nbsp;methods; and medical and humanitarian applications of OR. He has published extensively with over 75 articles in journals such as&nbsp;<em>Management Science</em>,&nbsp;<em>Operations Research</em>, and&nbsp;<em>IISE Transactions</em>. He has co-authored 20 book chapters and three textbooks. Goldsman has also served as associate editor for&nbsp;<em>Sequential Analysis&nbsp;</em>and&nbsp;<em>The Journal of Simulation</em>, among other journals.</p>

<p>Goldsman has been president of the INFORMS Simulation Society and the chair of the INFORMS Public Awareness Committee. He received the INFORMS Simulation Society&rsquo;s Distinguished Service Award. He and ISyE Professor Christos Alexopoulos won the INFORMS Simulation Society&rsquo;s 2007 Outstanding Simulation Publication Award for their paper &ldquo;To Batch or Not to Batch?&rdquo; Goldsman and Alexopoulos, along with Claudia Antonini and Jim Wilson received the&nbsp;<em>IIE Transactions</em>&nbsp;2010 Best Paper Prize in Operations Engineering and Analysis for &ldquo;Area Variance Estimators for Simulation Using Folded Standardized Time Series.&rdquo; Goldsman also&nbsp;received a Fulbright fellowship in 2006 to lecture at Boğazi&ccedil;i and Sabancı Universities in Istanbul, Turkey. He was&nbsp;<a href="https://www.iise.org/Details.aspx?id=31226">named</a>&nbsp;a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers in 2012.</p>

<p>Goldsman and the other 11 2020 Fellows will be inducted at the Virtual 2020 INFORMS Annual Meeting, November 7-13.</p>
