Impact Presents: "Creative Entrepreneurship in Times of Social Change"

Join us for a virtual Impact session on Wednesday, September 16 from 5 pm to 6 pm as we host alumna Archel Bernard, founder of The Bombchel Factory. Archel will talk about the trials and successes of her entrepreneurial journey, what it means to be a Black female founder, and leading a for-profit social enterprise in times of crisis.

You can find the link to register and watch the live seminar here.

Archel Bernard is the founder and President of The Bombchel Factory. When Archel Bernard moved to Monrovia, Liberia—her ancestral homeland which her parents had fled in the 1980s during brutal civil unrest—she wanted to be the Oprah of West Africa.

She moved to the West African country after graduating from Georgia Tech (IAC'10). She now specializes in dreaming up contemporary African clothing and working with local women to create employment opportunities that lead to self-sufficiency.

Archel’s mission in life took a significant turn amid the deadly Ebola outbreak in Liberia. She saw the devastation in the country she loved; a country still struggling to overcome civil war. Archel decided to open a factory and join the rebuilding efforts. She named it The Bombchel Factory and herself, the Head Bombchel in Charge. Her for-profit business leads with mission to tackle global issues.

Impact is a weekly series of meaningful conversations, free and open to all. The talks provide students, and the larger community on and off-campus, the opportunity to network with and learn from, successful leaders and entrepreneurs from the corporate and social sectors.

The 2020/21 series will feature conversations on race, social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) and the Georgia Social Impact Collaborative (GSIC).
