Despite its new socially-distanced format, SIGKDD will continue presenting the world\u0026rsquo;s premier data mining research, which will include highlights provided by Georgia Tech faculty and students.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis year, Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s presence is led by\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/cse.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Computational Science and Engineering\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;(CSE) researchers, with CSE Assistant Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/chaozhang.org\/\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EChao Zhang\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;co-authoring four papers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn total, Georgia Tech faculty are set to present five papers next week during the conference\u0026rsquo;s technical proceedings and one paper as part of the workshop,\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/mason.gmu.edu\/~lzhao9\/venues\/DeepSpatial2020\/\u0022\u003EDeepSpatial\u003C\/a\u003E. These presentations offer proposals for a range of topics including\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2008.04063\u0022\u003Eonline frameworks for healthcare applications\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2006.15509\u0022\u003Eimproving the prediction performance of named entity recognition models.\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAs the pandemic lingers on and another election year looms, disease and misinformation on the web are two subjects that are top of everyone\u0026rsquo;s mind. In a timely fashion, CSE Assistant Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003ESrijan Kumar\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Eand CSE Associate Professor\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;B. Aditya Prakash\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Eare providing cutting-edge research that takes on these key issues.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EKumar is helping lead a\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/truthdiscoverykdd2020.github.io\/\u0022\u003Eworkshop on ensuring web content credibility\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;in an era of misinformation and techniques such as deep fakes. Kumar will provide an invited talk as part of the workshop at\u0026nbsp;2:45\u0026nbsp;p.m. PDT on Aug. 24,\u0026nbsp;to discuss emerging ideas and advances in malicious behavior detection and Workshop on Epidemiology meets Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery.\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;This day-long workshop aims to gather leading epidemiologists in a discussion to develop theoretical
