Department of Housing: Move-In Information

We can’t wait to welcome students back to campus this fall. New first-year student move-in is August 8-9, while all other residents move in August 13-16. Here are some of the ways we’re modifying move-in this year.

Students will choose a move-in time using a mobile app. They can find information about this app in their email. Time slots for move-in are spaced out to allow Housing to limit the number of people in one space at any given time.

There will also be a drive through check-in process that will minimize contact and touch points.

Sanitizing stations and enhanced surface area cleaning will also be incorporated into this year’s move-in process.

Volunteers will be present to assist and will be wearing masks.

More information leading up to move-in will be sent via email, so make sure your student is checking their Georgia Tech email.

The To Parents page on our website is a good place to begin thinking about move-in.

When students are packing, they should use our Items to Bring page for suggestions. Don’t let them pack too much and encourage communication between roommates to avoid duplicate items.

Questions about Housing for Fall Semester

As we plan for fall, we recognize the ramifications of Covid-19 may present a number of concerns for our residents and their parents. There are a lot of unknowns; however, we want you to know that Georgia Tech Housing and Residence Life is developing enhanced cleaning protocols, programming and distancing initiatives to prevent the spread of disease, while still providing the community and support to enhance your academic success and promote your student’s personal growth and development. We’ve tried to answer some of the most common questions and update them regularly – click here to learn more.
