MentorTech is an employee mentoring program that strategically pairs mentees and mentors into a one-on-one experience focused on professional partnerships.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2020, the program accepted 92 Institute employees into partnerships from over 56 different campus departments.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe six-month program traditionally kicks off in February and concludes in August. This year\u0026rsquo;s program, like so many others, was forced to shift its format due to social distancing restrictions caused by Covid-19.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn-person meetups transitioned to e-mentoring.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;A national pandemic couldn\u0026rsquo;t stop the mentoring partnerships. We pivoted and leveraged technology to keep the conversations going,\u0026rdquo; said Yvette Francis,\u0026nbsp;program manager.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECollectively the pairs invested more than 500 hours.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) is exceptionally proud of the 2020 participants\u0026nbsp;and their commitment to the program.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The connection with Susan has been great. In this time of COVID-19 and working remotely we were able to meet face to face via Teams every other week,\u0026rdquo; said Carla Zachery, a program mentor.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EProgram participants had diverse needs and were matched based on their individual interest in one of the following categories:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EGeneral Career Guidance,\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EWork\/Life Transitions,\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ESponsor, and\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETechnical Competency. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Despite the remote relationship, mentoring can still be very beneficial and, in fact, is even more important,\u0026rdquo; said Dian Chung, a program mentor.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EProgram mentors and mentees shared their personal sentiments and appreciation for how flexible the program was at allowing them to chart their own course.
