There are many unknowns. But we want you to know that Georgia Tech Housing and Residence Life is developing enhanced cleaning protocols, programming, and distancing initiatives to prevent the spread of disease, while still providing the community and support to enhance academic success and promote your student\u0026rsquo;s personal growth and development. New first-year student move-in is Aug. 8-9, while all other residents move in Aug. 14-16. Here are some of the ways we\u0026rsquo;re modifying move-in this year.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EStudents will have an assigned move-in time, and appointments for move-in will be widely spaced out to allow Housing to limit the number of people in one space at any given time.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EThere will be a drive-thru check-in process that will minimize contact and touch points.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ESanitizing\u0026nbsp;stations and enhanced surface area cleaning will be incorporated into this year\u0026rsquo;s move-in process.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EVolunteers will be present to assist and will be wearing face coverings.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMore information about move-in will be sent via email, so make sure your student is checking their Georgia Tech email.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/housing.gatech.edu\/applicants-parents\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ETo Parents\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003Epage on our\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/housing.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewebsite\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;is a good place to begin thinking about move-in.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhen students are packing, they should use our\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/housing.gatech.edu\/move-in-items-to-bring\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EItems to Bring\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003Epage for suggestions. Don\u0026rsquo;t let them pack too much, and encourage communication between roommates to avoid duplicate items.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ERoom Assignments\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHousing and Residence Life\u0026nbsp;has proposed a model for housing in the fall maintaining double occupancy of residential rooms in traditional buildings that have common bathrooms on each floor.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAll triple and quadruple rooms in traditional residence halls will be eliminated for Fall 2020. We will work to maximize the number of single-occupancy residences available.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERoom assignments are complete for 2020-21 with the exception of first-year assignments and waitlist assignments. These will be made at the beginning of this month. First-year students will be able to self-assign their room starting July 6.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOnce your student has received a room assignment they can view it and their roommate(s) information in\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/starrez.housing.gatech.edu\/StarRezPortalX\/InitiateLogin\/StarNet.Core.AuthProviders.Shibboleth\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EMy Housing\u003C\/a\u003E. If a room change is desired, students can use the Room Swap tab in My Housing. It is best if all room changes are completed online prior to checking out the room key in August.
