I delve into various optical materials including semiconductors, dielectrics, and metals that serve as a premier material in the field of nanophotonic. Then the nano-sized structures, which are smaller or comparable to the wavelength of interest, are considered to sustain a well-defined resonance mode in the structure, such as surface plasmon and Mie-like resonance modes. These resonance modes stem from the dipole and multi-pole modes such as electric\/magnetic dipoles, quadrupoles and so on. By exploring the resonance modes in the structures, mainly focused on the electric\/magnetic dipole modes in this proposal, I propose a noble way to enable the tunability of the nonlinear optical effects in the semiconductor and dielectric materials. Furthermore, I will introduce a large chirality to a metamaterial by incorporating both electric and magnetic dipoles modes.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"Active Nanophotonic Devices Facilitated by Engineered Dipole Modes"}],"uid":"28475","created_gmt":"2020-04-21 17:56:27","changed_gmt":"2020-04-21 17:56:27","author":"Daniela Staiculescu","boilerplate_text":"","field_publication":"","field_article_url":"","field_event_time":{"event_time_start":"2020-05-06T11:00:00-04:00","event_time_end":"2020-05-06T13:00:00-04:00","event_time_end_last":"2020-05-06T13:00:00-04:00","gmt_time_start":"2020-05-06 15:00:00","gmt_time_end":"2020-05-06 17:00:00","gmt_time_end_last":"2020-05-06 17:00:00","rrule":null,"timezone":"America\/New_York"},"extras":[],"groups":[{"id":"434371","name":"ECE Ph.D. Proposal Oral Exams"}],"categories":[],"keywords":[{"id":"102851","name":"Phd proposal"},{"id":"1808","name":"graduate students"}],"core_research_areas":[],"news_room_topics":[],"event_categories":[{"id":"1788","name":"Other\/Miscellaneous"}],"invited_audience":[{"id":"78771","name":"Public"}],"affiliations":[],"classification":[],"areas_of_expertise":[],"news_and_recent_appearances":[],"phone":[],"contact":[],"email":[],"slides":[],"orientation":[],"userdata":""}}}
