Simon will talk through the rationale for the design of the curriculum, which is delivered predominately by Team-Based Learning (TBL). Simon will explain how he uses TurningPoint to engage students in the classroom and to help manage part of the “assessment-for-learning” process used in TBL. Simon will also discuss the faculty and student experience of TBL and present some results from a recent study that demonstrates how active and collaborative learning has increased student engagement and narrowed the attainment gap for students of target equality groups.
TBL is a structured, student-centered learning and teaching strategy that takes a “flipped” approach to learning. It is designed to promote active, engaging and deeper approaches to learning through a process of preparation, testing and application of knowledge.
