Faculty at Georgia Tech-Lorraine aim to tie-in classroom learning with real-life experiences through field trips. With visits both in and around Metz, students learn in a more hands-on way and explore where their degrees could take them.

In the Fall and Spring, Professor Tim Stoneman often takes his HTS 2100 (Science and Technology in the Modern World: Regions of Europe) classes on field trips to Munich or Toulouse. The class tours the BMW museum and factory in Munich, Germany, including a trip to the IQ159 Innovation Lab, a guided tour of the Munich plant, and a visit to the acoustics lab of Georgia Tech alumnus Tomohiro Higaki. Students also spend time at the Deutsches Museum (museum of German technology) in Munich. Some semesters, the class travels to Toulouse, France to tour the Airbus facility and the Aeroscopia Museum. These trips give students access to experiences that are not open to the average tourist, and are often among the most memorable experiences that students have while at Georgia Tech-Lorraine.
