{"629520":{"#nid":"629520","#data":{"type":"event","title":"A 21st Look at the Global Ocean Conveyor Belt  ","body":[{"value":"\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EThe School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Presents Dr. Susan Lozier, Dean, GA Tech College of Sciences\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EA 21st Look at the Global Ocean Conveyor Belt\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 1800 Count Rumford ascertained the ocean\u0026#39;s meridional overturning circulation from a single profile of ocean temperature constructed with the use of a rope, a wooden bucket and a rudimentary thermometer.\u0026nbsp; Over two centuries later, data from floats, drifters and moorings deployed across the North Atlantic have transformed our understanding of the overturning circulation.
