On November 7, Economics Associate Professor Shatakshee Dhongde was featured on a panel entitled 'Comparisons of Monetary and Multidimensional Poverty' at the recent World Bank-International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) conference in Washington, D.C. Dhongde presented her recent paper "A Comparison of Income Poverty and Multidimensional Deprivation: Lessons Learned from the United States" to underscore the conference's theme of discovering 'New Approaches to Define and Measure Poverty in a Growing World.'

Economics Professor and Director of Georgia Tech’s Health Economics and Analytics Lab (HEAL) Danny Hughes gave a talk entitled "Payments, Access, and Regulation: Provider Participation and Behavior in U.S. Healthcare Markets" at Jefferson University's Department of Radiology in Philadelphia, PA on November 4. In addition to his appointments at Georgia Tech, Hughes also serves as the executive director of the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute.

On November 19, Economics Professor and former Chair Christine Ries was a featured guest speaker at a Commission on Creating the Next in Education (CNE) lunch regarding Artificial Intelligence and the future of education. CNE is an initiative of Georgia Tech's Center for 21st Century Universities, which serves as a living laboratory for fundamental change in education. Ries, who is a former board member of the Georgia Charter Educational Foundation, has extensive experience working in education policy and the use of computers and information technology in education.
