But Joel Kostka is changing that, thanks to his research into how global warming is affecting\u0026nbsp;peat moss, a critical part of Earth\u0026#39;s ecology.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhy? \u0026quot;It turns out that peat moss could be one of the most important plants to the global carbon cycle,\u0026quot; says Kostka, a professor in the School of Biological Sciences and the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.\u0026quot;It could store more carbon arguably than any other plant on earth.\u0026quot;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EKostka has a National Science Foundation grant to find out more about microbes and their relationship with plants, soil, and other aspects of the environment. When we get sick, we want to know \u003Cem\u003Eeverything\u003C\/em\u003E about those microbiomes.
