  <title><![CDATA[Get Spooky in the City This Halloween]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Halloween is the time to celebrate everything from full-on horror to lighthearted spookiness. While the holiday may fall on a weekday this year, there are still plenty of ways to bust out your best costumes, collect some candy, and get your scare on, both on and off campus.</p>

<h4><a href="https://id.gatech.edu/events/annual-pumpkin-ramble"><strong>Annual Pumpkin Ramble</strong></a></h4>

<p>Thursday, Oct. 24, 5 to 8 p.m.</p>

<p>Architecture West Lawn</p>

<p>Each year, first-year industrial design students are tasked with carving jack-o-lanterns, though with a twist. These are designed in the style of famous designers, and the results will be shown to the whole campus community on Oct. 24.</p>

<p>Enjoy a parade through Grant Park as you&rsquo;re surrounded by some of the spookiest lanterns in the city. <h4><strong>Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown Markets</strong></h4>

<p>Atlanta&rsquo;s local artists and musicians are getting into the Halloween spirit, and some of them will be showcased at the Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown Markets. The Hocus Pocus Market is Friday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 11 p.m. and invites all attendees to wear costumes. <h4><a href="https://www.atlantahistorycenter.com/programs/day-of-the-dead-dia-de-los-muertos-2"><strong>Day of the Dead Festival</strong></a></h4>

<p>Sunday, Oct. 27, noon to 5 p.m.</p>

<p>Atlanta History Center</p>

<p>Visitors of all ages are invited to come learn about the Day of the Dead by enjoying an authentic festival. There will be traditional dancing, crafts, food, and entertainment, as well as altars honoring lost loved ones put together by members of the Atlanta community. The event is part of a free admission day at the Atlanta History Center, and attendees can enjoy both the festival and other History Center exhibits at no cost.</p>

<p>Drop in and celebrate Halloween with movies and games. <em>Hocus Pocus</em> will be shown at 1 p.m., and <em>Carrie</em> will be shown at 2:30 p.m.</p>

<p>Come out in your most historical costumes for the History and Sociology Club&rsquo;s History Con. Enjoy free food from Halal Guys, Halloween candy, and, of course, the costume contest itself.</p>

<h4><a href="https://www.crc.gatech.edu/halloweenholla"><strong>10th Annual Halloween Holla 5K</strong></a></h4>

<p>Thursday, Oct. 31, 7 a.m.</p>

<p>Tyler Brown Pi Mile Trail</p>

<p>The Halloween Holla 5K doubles as both a way to get some exercise and show off your favorite costume. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers as well as the best individual and group costumes. Race number pickup begins at 6 a.m. Halloween morning at the Campus Recreation Center, and the race along the Tyler Brown Pi Mile Trail begins at 7. The race is free, and day-of registration is available starting at 6 a.m.</p>

<p>The Society of Physics Students and Society of Women in Physics will hold their annual pumpkin drop on Halloween afternoon. Pumpkins can either be carved or dropped from the roof of the Howey building after being frozen in liquid nitrogen. <h4><a href="https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/events/event/trick-or-treat-2019/"><strong>Trick or Treat at the Georgia Aquarium</strong></a></h4>

<p>Thursday, Oct. 31, 4 to 8 p.m.</p>

<p>Georgia Aquarium</p>

<p>This family-friendly event allows you to trick or treat among beluga whales and manta rays. If that isn&rsquo;t your thing, there will also be Halloween crafts, a photo booth, and a performance by the aquarium&rsquo;s entertainment team. Admission to the aquarium is required to attend the event.</p>

<p>If you don&rsquo;t want to leave campus on Halloween, join the Student Center Programs Council for a night of free Halloween fun. There will be bowling, pumpkin decorating, a haunted maze on the third floor, and more.</p>
