<value>
Flux Projects: Year One
Abstract:

Flux Projects began just over a year ago in
2009. Conceived initially as a plan for developing a Nuit Blanche style
of event for Atlanta, the organization quickly expanded to offering
year-round programs throughout Atlanta in an effort to fuse art into the
daily life of our city. Executive Director Anne Dennington will
discuss the decisions that were made, the variety of projects that have
been presented (including FLUX 2010, the one-night event in the
Castleberry Hill Art District), and the lessons learned along the way.

              Bio:

In November of 2009, Anne Dennington became the
Executive Director of Flux Projects, a new organization to support
artists in creating innovative temporary public art throughout Atlanta.
Dennington has deep connections to Atlanta’s arts community, having
served as the first Executive Director of Atlanta Celebrates Photography
(ACP) from April 2004 to September 2007, and before that as Director of
The Lowe Gallery from 1997 to 2004. More recently, she has been
Director of Museums for the City of Monroe, Louisiana, overseeing the
Masur Museum of Art, the largest visual arts museum in northeast
Louisiana, and the Cooley House.

Dennington began working in public art in 2004, when she developed
the public art component of ACP’s programming. She is on the board of
directors of the Metropolitan Public Art Coalition (MPAC) and also
served on Mayor Shirley Franklin’s Public Art Advisory Committee in
2007. Other community involvement includes a current position on the
advisory board of ACP, as well as having served on the Louisiana
Association of Museums’ Council in 2009 and the ArtPapers magazine board
of directors from 1998 to 2004.
</value>
