Brian Kemp issued a news \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/opb.georgia.gov\/sites\/opb.georgia.gov\/files\/related_files\/site_page\/Budget%20Instructions_Amended%20FY2020_FY2021.pdf\u0022\u003Erelease\u003C\/a\u003E directing all state agencies, including the University of System of Georgia (USG), to develop proposals to reduce spending by 4% in the amended FY 2020 budget \u0026mdash;\u0026nbsp;the current fiscal year \u0026mdash; and by 6% in the FY 2021 budget.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAs clarified in further instructions to USG leadership, the Board of Regents will be required to submit reduction plans for non-formula driven programs. \u003Cstrong\u003EThe Teaching Formula, which supports the Institute\u0026rsquo;s primary Resident Instruction budget, is currently exempt from these requirements.\u003C\/strong\u003E The USG will continue to work with the governor\u0026rsquo;s Office of Planning and Budget throughout the fall budget process for further guidance.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;All of us at Georgia Tech are committed to driving efficiencies and are actively working to develop a plan to address the governor\u0026rsquo;s directive,\u0026rdquo; said Jim Fortner, interim executive vice president for Administration and Finance. \u0026ldquo;While we are not required to submit a reduction plan for the Institute as a whole, we will remain conservative in our budget planning and remain flexible should this directive change.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMore information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EOn Aug. 6, the office of Georgia Gov.
