Hall, USAF (Retired) and to dedicate the Stephen\nC. Hall Building.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Halls are a steadfast presence at Georgia Tech, and the ceremony\ncelebrated their deep attachment to and support of the Institute, the\nROTC, and the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFormerly known as the Navy ROTC building, the structure at 215 Bobby\nDodd Way will be renovated to house\u0026nbsp;the School of Literature,\nCommunication, and Culture\u0027s (LCC).Writing and Communications Program.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe dedication ceremony commenced with the posting of The Colors by\nGeorgia Tech Air Force, Army, and Navy ROTC cadets. Following remarks\nby President Peterson, Dean Jacqueline Jones Royster expressed\nappreciation to the Halls for their deep understanding of the College\u2019s\nliberal arts mission, as well as the broad humanities training the\nCollege provides for all Georgia Tech students, and the ever-increasing\nneed for cutting-edge facilities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWith this renovation, soon to be underway, we breathe easier,\u201d said\nRoyster. \u201cWe celebrate the fact that it will take us much farther down\nthe path of accomplishing our most basic Ivan Allen College goals: the\ncreation of a highly charged intellectual community in which students,\nfaculty, and staff come together to foster a culture of communication\nexcellence.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EMr. Stephen Eiting, Vice President of Operations, L3-Communications\nSystems-West spoke on the importance of communications skills to rising\nbusiness managers, and the value of the skills being taught in LCC.\u0026nbsp;\nAlso present for the ceremony were Dr.\u0026nbsp;Kenneth J. Knoespel,\u0026nbsp;who has\nmost recently served as Interim Dean of the College and as Chair of the\nSchool of LCC, and Dr. Rebecca Burnett,\u0026nbsp;Director of the Writing \u0026amp;\nCommunications Program, both of whom worked to help bring about the new\nfacility.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn a moving speech, Col. Hall explained his commitment to the Ivan\nAllen College of Liberal Arts and the Writing and Communications\nProgram saying that \u201cthe language elevates\u201d and \u201cwriting and presenting\nare not optional.\u201d He also cited his deep admiration for college\nnamesake, Ivan Allen Jr. Hall resided in Atlanta during the 1960s and\nsaid that Mayor Allen\u2019s communication abilities were a distinguishing\ncharacteristic and a key to his extraordinary leadership during the\nterrible strife of the civil rights struggle. Col. Hall remembered\nDevelopment Officer Ski Hilenski, who passed away in 2009, for the\ninspiration he provided.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe adventure continues,\u201d said Col. Hall. \u201cAn adventure steeped in\nscholarship, lighted by a legacy, grounded in gratitude, and powered by\na promise. That promise being that Pam and I will continue the journey,\ndoing as much as we can, for as long as we can, as Tech and the Ivan\nAllen College grow into the years ahead.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECol. Hall is Director at Large of Depot Operations for L-3\nCommunication Systems-West, a leading supplier of products and services\nused in aerospace and defense platforms. A 1967 Georgia Tech graduate\nwith a degree in Management, he served in the Air Force for over two\ndecades. Hall is a member of the Ivan Allen College Development\nCouncil, and he and Mrs. Hall have supported many critical activities\nin the college. They established the Steven C. Hall Endowed Scholarship\nto help students who are children of active duty military members. They\nendowed the Bynum Suite in Skiles Building in honor of Col. Hall\u2019s\nteacher and mentor Dr. James J. Bynum, Jr., a professor who taught in\nthe English Department, now the School of Literature, Communication,\nand Culture.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Halls have sponsored the College\u2019s Founder\u2019s Day Ivan Allen Jr.\nLegacy Awards which recognize faculty, students, and alumni. Col. Hall\nhas supported the Georgia Tech Alumni Roll Call for nearly 30 years. He\nis a frequent and popular lecturer on campus speaking to ROTC and\nhistory students on World War II strategy and campaigns, and the roles\nand contributions of women and minorities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003ETop Photo: (left to right) Georgia Tech President G.
