The Georgia Tech Office of the President, Office of the Provost, College of Computing, and other faculty unanimously recommended Mynatt for the recognition.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Beth Mynatt is really a perfect example of what a Regents\u0026rsquo; Professor should be,\u0026quot; said Zvi Galil,\u0026nbsp;John P. Imlay Jr. Chair and dean of the Georgia Tech College of Computing. \u0026quot;She is a world-leading researcher in human-computer interaction and helped shape the computing field through her leadership at the Computing Community Consortium. At Georgia Tech, she has brought considerable leadership to the College of Computing \u0026ndash; first as Director of the GVU Center, and now as the founding director of IPaT. She is a true leader in the field.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nOver the past 15 years, Mynatt\u0026rsquo;s research has focused on the role of ubiquitous computing in health. She\u0026rsquo;s worked with several partners, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Columbia Medical, to understand the design and adoption of socio-technical computer-based systems that enable people to alter their behavior as a means of improving their health.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nShe\u0026rsquo;s now principal investigator on the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ipat.gatech.edu\/news\/novel-app-uses-ai-guide-support-cancer-patients\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EMyPath project\u003C\/a\u003E, an application that provides breast cancer patients with personalized recommendations during their cancer journey. The National Cancer Institute has sponsored the research, and it was also featured in\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ipat.gatech.edu\/news\/report-cancer-and-technology-highlights-georgia-tech-research\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ea report to President Barack Obama\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;by the President\u0026rsquo;s Cancer Panel.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nMynatt joined the College of Computing faculty in 1998 and is currently a Distinguished Professor in the School of Interactive Computing for her commitment to advancing computer science. She\u0026rsquo;s also executive director of the Institute for People and Technology (IPaT) and director of the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ecl.cc.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EEveryday Computing Lab\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;where she investigates the design and evaluation of health information technologies. Previously, she was director of the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/gvu.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EGVU Center\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;for six years.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u0026ldquo;Beth\u0026rsquo;s impact to the computing community goes far beyond the research she has spearheaded as a professor at Georgia Tech,\u0026rdquo; said Ayanna Howard, chair, Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing. \u0026ldquo;She is not only a leader among her peers and to the students within her charge, but she has impacted the wider computing community as well. Her contributions as a faculty member in the School of Interactive Computing are immeasurable.\u0026quot;\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nMynatt also represents Georgia Tech in the broader computing community. She\u0026rsquo;s a current council member, past chair and vice chair of the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/cra.org\/ccc\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EComputing Community Consortium\u003C\/a\u003E, a member of the SIGCHI Academy, and a member of the National Academies\u0026rsquo;\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.nationalacademies.org\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EComputer Science and Telecommunications Board\u003C\/a\u003E. In 2015, the Association of Computing Machinery\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ipat.gatech.edu\/news\/mynatt-selected-new-acm-fellow\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Eselected her as a fellow\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nA Georgia Tech alumnus, Mynatt received her master\u0026rsquo;s degree and Ph.D. in computer science from the Institute.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nShe joins\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003ESurya Kalidindi\u003C\/strong\u003E, professor in the George W.
