Each month a member of the Georgia Tech community will share his\/her favorite element via video.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.president.gatech.edu\/about-dr-peterson\u0022\u003EDr. G.P. \u0026quot;Bud\u0026quot; Peterson\u003C\/a\u003E is the 11th president of Georgia Institute of Technology.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn this capacity he oversees a top-ten public research university with more than 36,900\u0026nbsp;students and research expenditures of more than $908\u0026nbsp;million.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThroughout his career, Dr. Peterson has helped establish national education and research agendas, serving on numerous industry, government, and academic task forces and committees. A distinguished scientist, Dr. Peterson was selected in 2008 by President George W. Bush to serve on the National Science Board through 2014. The Board oversees the National Science Foundation (NSF) and advises the President and Congress on national policy related to science and engineering research and education.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDr. Peterson earned undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and mathematics as well as a master\u0026#39;s degree in engineering from Kansas State University. He earned his doctoral degree in mechanical engineering at Texas A\u0026amp;M University.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn January 2019, Dr. Peterson \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2019\/01\/07\/georgia-tech-president-peterson-announces-plans-retire-president\u0022\u003Eannounced\u003C\/a\u003E he will retire as Georgia Tech\u0026#39;s president in summer 2019.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHis favorite element is ....
