Mathematics, Class of 2020\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHometown \u0026ndash; Valdosta, Georgia\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003EWhat do you enjoy about mathematics?\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn mathematics, whenever you prove a statement, that statement will always be true;\u0026nbsp;and there is a beauty to this truth\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003EWhat are your plans after graduation?\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI plan to pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics, most likely concentrated in algebraic number theory or algebraic geometry. Afterward, I want to go into academia and become a research professor. I am currently doing research under \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/people.math.gatech.edu\/~mbaker\/\u0022\u003EProfessor Matt Baker\u003C\/a\u003E in\u0026nbsp;hyperfields. It is some of the most fun that I have had doing math because there is little that is understood about the subject, and even the task of defining a concept becomes a challenge when you start to work with more complicated structures.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003EWhat is your favorite memory at Tech?\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn spring 2018, I went to an undergraduate math conference at Georgia Southern University, where a friend presented his research. A group of us also participated in a math competition there, and our team ended up winning.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003EWhy do you like to do outside of classes?\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI like to play bridge and attend\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/orgsync.com\/135879\/chapter\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EBridge Club at Georgia Tech\u003C\/a\u003E meetings.
