In 2017, Kim Cobb, of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, calculated that 85% of her carbon footprint came from flying. Shocked, she cut down her flying by three quarters. Cobb is part of a growing movement of people choosing to quit or hugely restrict their flying in hopes of reducing their carbon footprints due to travel.
