Ideally, the intern will be available for 2 months\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003Estarting in April 2018\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u0026nbsp;Applicants\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003Eavailable later\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;are also encouraged to apply.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nInternships are unpaid. However, students may be able to arrange academic credit, as Human Rights Watch internships often offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization, close supervision by HRW staff, and interaction with other international organizations and foreign and domestic government officials. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStudents will also have opportunities to attend lectures, trainings, professional development workshops, special events relating to human rights, as well as network with other HRW interns, volunteers, and employees. As an HRW intern, students will take skills acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EResponsibilities\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe student will intern closely with members of the Advocacy team especially the France Director and the Advocacy Coordinator. The internship will primarily focus on advocacy-related activities, which include:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EFollowing thematic and geographic issues:\r\n\t\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\t\u003Cli\u003EDistributing press releases;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\t\u003Cli\u003EParticipating in meetings with decision makers and NGOs, and drafting meeting reports;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\t\u003Cli\u003EPreparing content for social media\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\t\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EConducting desk research and drafting various advocacy documents;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EDrafting memos, briefing documents, press reviews, and the Daily Brief in French;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EMaintaining the \u0026ldquo;decision-maker\u0026rdquo; contact database; and\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETranslating documents from and to French and English.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis internship is best suited for individuals interested in gaining experience within a small office of a large, well-organized, international non-profit organization.
