{"616772":{"#nid":"616772","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Breakthrough Atlanta Summer Teaching Internship","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Breakthrough teaching fellow experience is designed for undergraduates of all majors and for those who intend to pursue careers in education, as well as those who haven\u0026rsquo;t yet considered it.\u0026nbsp; The opportunity is unlike any other available to undergraduates and our alumni are transformed by the experience. Education coursework is not a prerequisite. We seek applicants with a deep interest in social justice and a passion for working with students. Our teaching fellows must be committed to personal growth and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Because we celebrate the diversity of our community, we seek undergraduate applicants from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. \u0026nbsp; During the nine-week residency, Breakthrough teaching fellows receive over 100 hours of teaching and leadership training, and 75 hours of lead classroom experience. Teaching fellows have the opportunity to practice skills that prepare them for the classroom or other professional settings, including:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ELearn lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies, feedback techniques, and other essential learning tools\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EReceive regular coaching from professional educators\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ELead family conferences and participate in team meetings\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETeach core academic classes (math, science, writing, literature) and elective classes (e.g., foreign language, dance, art)\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECollaborate with colleagues in a challenging, fun, and supportive environment\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EWork with a diverse group of highly motivated students, staff, and teachers\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ELearn how to receive and deliver actionable feedback\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EPractice presentation skills\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EHone time management and project planning\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECurrent undergraduate college students, can apply to become Breakthrough Atlanta fellows. The 2019 fellowship program runs from June 3rd through July 31st.
